Dating Tips: Increase your self confidence
This is a post for guys and girls, I think it’s important to realize that most people suffer from a confidence crisis at least once in their lives and to learn practical, applicable ways to bring yourself back up when your down. It could be relationship break up, falling out with friends or for no quantifiable reason you can see but becoming depressed and losing hope is a common problem I see in today’s society. In terms of dating and relationships this can extremely destructive and leads to self sabotage and jealousy, even worse.
So, what are the best ways to increase your self esteem and confidence?
1. This sounds patronizing but in my opinion is the most vital element in forgetting your own problems is to help other people. Try your best to reconnect with old friends, volunteer or find an activity that allows you to help other people feel good. Sharing great moments with people truly revitalizes you and helps you get back on track.
2. Change your physiology. Exercise! It’s scientifically proven to be as effective an anti depressant as all the drugs on the market. Dopamine, endorphins, all the bodies natural reward chemicals flood your system after a good work out. There is no excuse not to be hitting the gym at least once or twice a week. Just make sure you rest in between and get at least 8 hours of high quality sleep a night.
3. Relaxation techniques. Meditation, hypnosis, brain sync what do they have in common? They illicit the bodies natural relaxation response, which is the bodies way of flushing cortisol and other harmful chemicals out of our bodies. This is a key response to dealing with stress, which is a huge cause of depression and loss of confidence. If I could give you just one tip to get your dating life back on track it would be this. Meditate or listen to guided hypnosis for at least 20 minutes a day, it helped me quit smoking, get over exes and more than I could possibly recount in an article.
4. Travel. I don’t expect you to up and leave your work and never come back but changing your scenery even temporarily can help evoke massive shifts in your perspective. For me travel is one of the most important things in the world, so if you wanna clear your mind and come back with new clarity, book that weekend away you’ve been thinking about.
I know none of these steps are rocket science but it’s unbelievable how often we neglect the very things we know will help us the most, be sure to follow these for a minimum of three weeks and you’ll feel better than ever.
