E-Waste Solutions By E-Green: Why Do We Want to Avoid Electronic Waste ?
Electronic waste is everything that was once considered to be an electronic device and is not needed anymore. This is E-Waste, and you want to recycle as much as you can from it, since our landfills are getting more and more polluted each and every day. E-Waste is the by product of a modern somewhat ‘obsession’ – the collection and advancement of more and more electronic products. When it comes to hi-tech companies, this is a huge problems, since millions over millions of devices are being replaced by these on a yearly basis, and the dangerous chemicals go straight to our land fills.
Why Do We Want to Properly Recycle E-Waste ?
- Better usage of Earth’s resources. Over time, our planet loses all of its natural minerals by our capitalistic needs. I believe it’s our responsibility to minimize our damage, and I know you agree with that. By recycling our e-waste we are also minimizing the amount of CO2 production, which is a major cause for global warming and many ecological issues.
- Social awareness – by recycling your goods, you’re making a small impact, but one that has the potential to affect your surroundings and peers in life and affect their life as well. This contributes directly to the first point above.
- Minimizing the amount of electronic waste sent to third world countries and damaging the local environment with toxic substances. This is a huge problem in South East Asia since most companies simply send their e-waste to countries like China, Vietnam and Cambodia, for the locals to manually cherry-pick each device and disassemble it using toxic materials that hurt both their health and the environment.
- Creating new job opportunities in the field of recycling. When it comes to our new days, when unemployment is so present, every job opportunity is sacred. By pushing your company and peers to recycle, you indirectly contribute to new job opportunities.
- This is a little bit sad, but many companies want to show ‘certain things’ for shareholders and the like. That means, contributing to ecological health and world issues certainly looks good, moral and provides a good first impression for many companies (especially high tech ones) that counts on future investments.
I believe we can make a change. All it take is the social awareness to know what we’re doing and where we’re going. Do not neglect this, we have only one little Planet and we must take care of it. Our company currently resides in Israel but we soon will open our first center in the United States. Check out with us more often to see updates on that specific area that most of us need to improve.
